A CANCER hospital is curing patients, reducing treatment times and cutting waiting lists thanks to a revolutionary new treatment.

Clatterbridge centre for oncology is the first in the UK to offer patients the new RapidArc treatment using a machine called a linear accelerator to send powerful X-rays through tumours.

PUBLIC health officials in Wirral are urging parents to get their children vaccinated with two doses of MMR without delay as the UK hovers on the brink of a measles epidemic.

Wirral Primary Care Trust says 500 two-year-olds have no protection from the virus, about 600 children aged five, and about 7,000 children up to the age of 16 are not fully protected.

THE brutal murder of a man who was thrown on a bonfire by a 13-year-old boy could have been prevented if Wirral care agencies had been better co-ordinated.

Jamie Smith was on the run from local authority residential care when he savagely beat to death 34-year-old Stephen Croft on November 5 last year.
