A link between obesity and ovarian cancer has been highlighted by a study of almost 95,000 women.
Researchers in the US found that among women aged 50 to 71 being obese raised the risk of the disease by almost 80 per cent.

Researchers at the University of Alberta found that semantic speed and higher functions such as planning, organising and paying attention to details were noticeably worse in patients with type 2 diabetes than in healthy adults.

Cancer cells have an “escape tactic” that may explain how they survive chemotherapy, a study suggests.
Researchers at the Chinese University of Hong Kong found that cancer cells can recover from chemicals that provoke “cell suicide” in healthy cells and go on to reproduce themselves. They suggest that this process may contribute to the return of cancer during chemotherapy.

Chinese dairy companies involved in the tainted milk scandal have apologised in a New Year text message sent to millions of mobile phone subscribers.
